Got a press release a couple days ago that told me that

EMINEM TEAMS UP WITH STEWIE GRIFFIN TO HOST “ANIMATION DOMINATION” SUNDAY, MAY 17, ON FOX.

It’s old news now but forgive me, I gotta write this out.

It’s to promote his new album Relapse and apparently Eminem is going to host the evening on Fox by appearing as his animated self in some interstitials. After which he’s going to make an announcement about doing something with Myspace Music.

Okay. Can anybody tell me what is up with Eminem’s comeback strategy? He’s starting inconsequential beefs (Nick Cannon), rapping about inconsequential people (Kim Kardashian, Sarah Palin, etc.), and is generally behaving like he thinks it’s still 2005. When he finally does make a topical reference in the new album, he’s making fun of Heath Ledger’s overdose (Lyrics: “I’ll do it, pop it, gobble it, and start bobblin’ / Stumble, hobble, tumble, slipped, fell in bed / with a bottle of meds / and a Heath Ledger bobblehead”).

And now there’s this. Guys, I haven’t told you the most baffling part yet, the quotes:

emstewie

“It was a thrill to work with Stewie,” said Eminem about the youngest member of the Griffin clan. “I’m a big fan of talking babies and their humor.”

On working with Eminem, Stewie said “I was just about to meet him, but after I shook hands with his stylist, his assistant, his lawyer, his bodyguard, his other bodyguard, his photographer, his manager, his hanger-on, his flower girl, his driver, his videographer, his notary, his historian, his her-storian, his texter and his own greased-up deaf guy, I got the swine flu.”

We can glean two things from this:

1) Eminem must really love Look Who’s Talking, and…

Okay, one thing.

But actually, Em may have gotten it right this time, teaming up with someone else who references outdated topics. Don’t get me wrong, I love Family Guy and all, but a swine flu dig?

Really?
