Tomorrow is Record Store Day, a [bittersweet] happening when music lovers swill beer and toast to the gods of vinyl and other rapidly-disappearing physical music formats. The Record Day Store brand is taking over the old Virgin Megastore (RIP) spot at Coachella, Sonic Youth, Pavement, and others are doing special releases that can only be bought in stores, and participating retailers will be hosting free performances, discounts, and giveaways. Check here for events going on in your ‘hood.

A particularly good lineup in New York is the one at Other Music in the village:

11:30AM-12:30PM: Bob Dylan Together Through Life listening party with bagels, muffins, and juice
1-2PM Telepathe DJ Set
2-3PM Obits DJ Set
3-4PM Grizzly Bear DJ Set
4-5PM Pains of Being Pure at Heart DJ Set
5-6PM Raveonettes DJ Set
6-7PM Prefuse 73 DJ Set
9-10PM Bill Callahan Live Performance (drinks courtesy of Pabst Blue Ribbon)

From muffins to PBR. That’s how we do in the NYC.
